There is a new entrant enter the Web search space called Ambiently. Dubbed as the frst “Discovery Engine” on the Web, it is essentially a browser tool that helps you easily find the information of a Web page without having to go to a search engine for a scour on it.
In fact, using Ambiently is very simple – you just need to drag-n-drop the Ambiently button to your browser’s toolbar, and click on the “Ambient Page,” all the relevant Web pages related to the current page will be displayed in front of you. In testing the Ambiently button, it’s feel a bit like the Google search engine is located on your browser’s toolbar, and thus Web pages search is hassle less in this aspect. However, when comparing the results with the exact query when you do a Google search, you’ll notice that there’s indeed a two different set of search results rendered.
From what I can see, the search results generated by Ambiently is soleyly based on keywords, though, which may include results related to the provided URL of the current Web page. Nevertheless, the ease of drag-n-drop of the Ambiently button to the browser’s toolbar definitely is a new unintrusive way to incorporate the discovery search with your regular Web search.
